GE Appliances

Set Design

Challenge:
Design a Profile kitchen for the annual GE appliance catalog containing freestanding appliances and combining old with new. With additional pages to showcase this space, design an exterior area that opens to the kitchen and be used as a “teaser” cover of the catalog, inviting customers to turn the page.

Answer:
We chose the location of New Orleans in order to create a kitchen that depicted a creative reuse of an old building. Old elements included the building’s original brick wall, columns and wood floor (painted with a plan of the gardens of Versailles), along with the exterior lantern, shutters and doors. New elements included contemporary cabinetry, sleek counters, unusual lighting and a combination mosaic tile featuring glass and stone.
